Starting and finishing at El Morro, the long route of GFNY Salinas 2025 is an experience that combines perfect mobility, coastal landscapes, local culture, and a summit finish that will remain in every cyclist’s memory.
First-class mobility and logistics
El Morro is a strategic starting point: wide roads, excellent asphalt, and traffic control ensure a safe and smooth ride from the very first kilometer.
Landscapes that captivate
Over the course of 105 km, you’ll ride along the Spondylus Route, passing iconic beaches, mangroves, fishing villages, and rural areas. With constant views of the Pacific Ocean and the striking contrast of sand, sea, and tropical vegetation, every section becomes a visual spectacle.
Fun and varied rhythm
The profile offers flat sections perfect for speed, short climbs that invite attacks, and smooth descents to recover energy. Every kilometer brings something different, keeping the excitement alive from start to finish.
The great final challenge
In the final kilometer, the climb to Cerro El Morro awaits: 1.6 km with gradients of up to 12%—a wall that demands strong legs, sharp strategy, and a heart of steel. Here, the true GFNY warriors will earn their medal.
Finish-line celebration
The summit of El Morro will not only be the place of glory but also the gathering point for the awards ceremony and the grand cycling party, with panoramic views of Salinas and the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop.
The long route offers an exciting challenge with 105 km and 941 m of climbing. It takes you through all possible environments, starting from the Chipipe boardwalk towards Mar Bravo, where you’ll battle the wind before connecting to the Perimetral Road. At the end of that road, you’ll find the turnaround point. The race will feature a mountain pass at the finish—El Morro—with ramps reaching a 12% gradient, where the attacks will begin until you reach the finish line with a breathtaking view of the Salinas coastline. You’re sure to enjoy the speed, the cheers, and the support of the fans, who will also witness this beautiful race with a summit finish worthy of the great tours.
The medium route, with 62 km, is just as challenging as the long distance but with less climbing—576 m of elevation—and follows the same circuit.
LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.
MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
THE JERSEY: All riders receive the official GFNY Ecuador race jersey, which is mandatory attire at the race. The jersey is designed in NYC and Made in Italy.
CHIP TIMING: GFNY Ecuador is a timed race. Each athlete has their own timing chip, which starts right after you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line. Timing results will be available at gfny.cc/results.
FINISHER MEDAL: Every GFNY Ecuador finisher receives a medal, no matter which distance they complete. All finishers also earn a “Finish” towards their 3x2025 GFNY medal or the 10x medal. Go to gfny.com/medals for more information on GFNY’s multi-finisher medals.
GFNY Ecuador is also offering GFNY Kids Ecuador. Open to children 2yo-12yo, now also GFNY Kids will Be a Pro For a Day. Each registration includes a GFNY Kids t-shirt, bike number and bib number, chip timing, finisher medal and post-race snack. Children start in heats divided by age. Podium ceremony for children 8yo and over.
